Portman Residence
New York practice of Chua Architecture has transformed an outdated London flat into a light-filled serene home, with all things concealed.
Previously a purpose-built flat, the 75 square-meter apartment now has an expansive open kitchen and living room, carefully composed with modern and traditional architectural details. With limited space, and in order to minimize disorder, every surface was meticulously designed to maximize function, while maintaining simplicity and warmth. The private living space is accessed through a hidden door, the bedrooms feature wall-to-wall millwork with storage and a concealed bed, and the bathrooms have shelves concealed behind tiled walls.
